The Challenge
Struxit, a growing engineering firm, faced the challenge of ensuring consistent skills development across their team, especially as they expanded rapidly from 22 employees in 2020 to 54 in 2024. With engineers joining the company at various skill levels, the need for a structured learning platform became evident. Struxit also sought to create an environment where engineers could take charge of their learning while maintaining high productivity, all while navigating the pressure of deadlines and project demands.
Project Goals
Struxit had three key goals in mind when implementing the Pinnacle Series platform:
- Accelerating Skills Development: Fast-track the professional growth of young engineers, ensuring they are industry-ready as quickly as possible.
- Tracking Training Progress: Establish a way to monitor and evaluate training and development efforts across the company, enabling managers to identify and address skill gaps.
- Creating Seamless Business Processes: Develop a unified platform where engineers could access all relevant company resources, training materials, and tools, promoting efficiency and flow in daily tasks.
Solution
Struxit chose Pinnacle Series to create a comprehensive learning and business hub for their team. The platform offers a repository of technical videos and training content that engineers can access independently, freeing up team leaders from hands-on training sessions. Struxit also integrated Pinnacle Series with other internal tools, such as SharePoint, IT services, and HR applications, centralizing all company functions in one easily accessible location.
By personalizing the platform, Struxit even uploaded custom training videos specific to their projects and processes, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world engineering applications.
Business Outcomes
Pinnacle Series has provided Struxit with several measurable outcomes:
- Enhanced Independent Learning: Engineers now have the autonomy to learn at their own pace, using Pinnacle’s resources to develop the skills necessary for their roles without constantly relying on senior team members.
- Streamlined Onboarding and Training: The onboarding process has become more efficient, reducing the need for lengthy face-to-face training sessions. Instead, new engineers are directed to specific learning pathways on Pinnacle, minimizing time spent on orientation.
- Increased Knowledge Transfer: By uploading their own training content, Struxit ensures that critical engineering knowledge is transferred across teams, allowing newer employees to learn from past projects.
- Skill Gap Identification: Using knowledge tests through Pinnacle, Struxit can now assess and address individual skill gaps, tailoring learning paths to ensure all engineers reach the same level of expertise.
Struxit has seen an increase in both time and resources allocated to learning and development, demonstrating their commitment to cultivating a skilled workforce. The ongoing tracking and evaluation of training are now integral to their operations, providing insights into both individual and collective progress.
Conclusion
For Struxit, Pinnacle Series has been a game-changer in creating a learning environment where engineers can thrive. It has allowed the company to grow rapidly while maintaining a focus on developing dynamic, well-rounded engineers. As Struxit continues to expand, they are actively exploring new ways to leverage Pinnacle Series to enhance productivity, such as integrating AI coaching to personalize career development paths. Despite challenges with slow download speeds due to server locations, the platform’s overall impact on Struxit’s operations and training is undeniable.
“Pinnacle Series has opened up a platform for independent learning. We are in an engineering environment where time is money, and having this tool allows engineers to learn without constant supervision.” – Michanté Davies
