A 5-day, fully sponsored training experience designed to give aspiring architectural students the real-world BIM skills the industry demands. Open to Architecture & Engineering students ideally in their 2nd year of university – those entering their internship phase will benefit most from the experience.
The program, which was first launched at the end of 2024, continues to support and develop young talent. Designed to upskill, train, and identify promising individuals in the architectural discipline.

BIM4Uni is an exclusive initiative aimed at giving university students access to world-class Building Information Modeling (BIM) training – free of charge.
Over five days, participants will learn from Modena’s industry-leading experts in architecture and design technology.
Modena is recognised as a thought in the AEC industry, guaranteed to provide knowledge and skills relevant to the industry.

- Who Can Apply:
- Be a registered Architecture or Engineering or Quantity Surveying student (completing 2nd year)
- Students eager to advance their BIM and CAD, Revit or technology skills
- Be passionate about shaping the built environment
- Educators may nominate students they believe meet the above criteria

- 1. Fundamentals & Advanced Techniques - Learn how to design, model, and document projects efficiently.
- 2. Introduction to BIM & Collaboration Workflows - Understand how multidisciplinary teams use BIM for design coordination.
- 3. Core Competency Programme (CCP) Basics - Explore construction project management, compliance, and safety.
- 4. Digital Tools for Future Professionals in the AEC space - Bridge the gap between academic learning and practical implementation.

- The most promising student will receive a 1-year tuition-only bursary towards their studies. Selection will be determined the assessment of the students' ability to grasp of the content presented to ensure the fairness in the process.

- Will you be available for the next rollout? These programs are run during semester breaks so as not to conflict with your varsity schedule

- The student who will receive the bursary will only be announced after the training and related assessments are completed.

There may be a limit to the number of candidates selected with each rollout based on the resources assigned, and the industry disciplines selected to run for that rollout

- Be a beginner level CAD user

Hloni Mavuso
Reality Capture Specialist (As-Built)
Modena AEC
Known for his warm smile and sense of style, Hloni Mavuso is a highly regarded member of the Modena team. Originally studying architecture, he transitioned into the role of Reality Capture Specialist, gaining extensive hands-on experience in as-built documentation and the use of advanced technology to accurately digitise and record existing structures.
As part of Modena’s Reality Capture team, Hloni has developed practical skills that complement his academic background, giving him a grounded understanding of real-world conditions and digital workflows. He has also shadowed a BIM Coordinator, building a strong foundation in model management, clash detection, and multidisciplinary coordination – making him a valuable asset within collaborative design and construction environments.
Beyond the technical realm, Hloni is certified in brand management and has successfully managed his own clothing brand, demonstrating entrepreneurial drive and a creative approach to storytelling, identity and design.
Lyle Sangion
Design Technology Specialist (BIM Coord)
Modena AEC
Architectural modeler, BIM coordinator, and aspiring architect with over 5 years of experience in the architectural industry. Armed with a laptop, a tape measure, and a sense of humor sharper than Kevin Hart’s punchlines, Lyle combines creativity and curiosity to deliver exceptional designs. Beyond 3D modeling, he specializes in helping architectural practices transition into digital workflows, ensuring they embrace modern tools and methodologies. His passion for software learning is as boundless as his love for Krispy Kreme donuts and parametric design.
When he’s not turning blueprints into reality, Lyle’s motivational speeches can energize a sloth into a sprinter, and his doodles rival Picasso’s (at least in his own mind). A natural people-person, he thrives on meaningful conversations, good food, and great music. Lyle holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Johannesburg and brings valuable experience from the built environment industry—all while keeping things light and professional.
Nikayle Govender
Construction Technology Specialist

With over six years of experience in the architectural field and the broader built environment, Nikayle Govender is a dedicated BIM Construction Technology Specialist who brings both technical insight and creative energy to her work. Described by her colleagues as beautiful, brave, and adventurous, Nikayle embraces new challenges with enthusiasm and remains committed to evolving alongside the rapidly shifting world of digital design. She believes deeply in the synergy between advanced technology and human imagination – where innovation thrives and remarkable possibilities emerge.
Outside the office, she devours fiction books, enjoys a good movie, and proudly admits that cooking isn’t high on her list of passions. A devoted animal lover, her beloved pavement special Riley, holds a special place in her heart. Nikayle’s approach to continuous growth drives her ongoing pursuit of learning, innovation, and excellence in the industry.
Rufaro Jambwa
Design Technology Specialist

Rufaro who fondly refers to herself as an Afrocentric construction princess, comes from a family lineage deeply rooted in the construction industry. As both an Architect and a Design Technology Specialist at Modena AEC, she believes that true design ingenuity is fuelled by continuous learning and curiosity.
A seasoned professional within the built environment, Rufaro excels at streamlining design processes through her expert use of Autodesk technologies and her strong, collaborative approach to working with project teams. Design truly runs in her blood – whether it’s architecture, furniture, or even wedding concepts, her creative flair shines through in everything she touches.
She also has a soft spot for stylish events with a hint of glamour… high tea, anyone?
